The Campus Recreation Fitness Department trains and auditions potential group fitness instructor candidates in both the Fall and Spring semesters through our Aerobics Instructor Training Class (AIT). All prospective employees for this position must first participate in an initial audition on January 24, 2013 during which you will be taught and then asked to execute a short series of basic Group Fitness moves. Based on individual performances students will be selected to join the AIT class. No previous experience in teaching group fitness classes is required. Upon successful completion of the AIT class a final audition is required to demonstrate one’s capability to lead a class. This audition combined with your semester long performance will decide whether employment will be offered.
The class is set up as a 10 week long interview process for students wishing to work for Campus Recreation. Over the 10 week course participants will be educated in:
Specialty Class Instructor Application (Yoga, Pilates, Cycle, Zumba).
The next AIT class will begin in September. Date and time TBA.
Requirements for selection into Aerobics Instructor Training Class
There is no fee for the class, but candidates will be responsible for fees related to group fitness class registration and attaining their certification. After one year of working for Campus Recreation, we will reimburse you half the cost of your certification.
